CROY RECEIVES MULTIPLE AWARDS AT GEORGIA ENGINEERING AWARDS

Georgia-based, full-service consulting firm Croy was recently awarded multiple honors during the annual Georgia Engineering Awards, hosted by the American Council of Engineering Companies of Georgia (ACEC Georgia) and the Georgia Society of Professional Engineers (GSPE). In addition to being named the 2022 Engineering Employer of the Year, Croy also earned an Engineering Excellence State Award for the Roswell Street Roundabout in the City of Smyrna, Ga., the project’s second award to-date. Lastly, the firm received an Engineering Excellence Merit Award for the Cartersville-Bartow County Airport in recognition of the ingenuity of the work done at the airport.

“Our Croy team is committed to providing our clients with quality engineering, innovative solutions, and positive, responsive service. These project awards serve as a testament to our efforts, and we congratulate both the City of Smyrna and Cartersville-Bartow County Airport on these award-winning projects.”  said Croy’s CEO Gregory D. Teague, PE. “In addition, I am proud of our entire team and the culture we have built at Croy. Receiving the year’s Employer of the Year Award is a tremendous honor and recognition of all the hard work our team puts in each day.”

Despite an uncertain year given the Covid-19 pandemic, Croy has remained focused on providing clients with excellent service, developing quality deliverables, and supporting staff members with opportunities. In 2021, Croy launched an internal training program designed to provide its employees with the opportunity to learn both technical and professional development skills. Croy also encourages its employees to grow through annual nominations and involvement in various civic and industry events, programs, and Board opportunities.

The Engineering Excellence Awards are presented annually by ACEC Georgia to exceptional engineers, engineering projects, and engineering companies to recognize their achievements demonstrating the highest degree of merit and ingenuity.

The Roswell Street roundabout, which opened to the public in the summer of 2020, replaced an existing six-legged, signalized intersection that had difficult vehicle travel paths, long cycle times, and limited pedestrian accessibility. Croy’s five-legged roundabout design removed the signal, realigned the eastern Hawthorn Avenue leg away from the intersection, and provided enhanced pedestrian features. These improvements have resulted in successfully reducing the traffic back-up during peak hours, decreasing the number of accidents, and improving aesthetics of the intersection. The project was also recognized with a 2020 GPTQ Preconstruction Design Award by the Georgia Department of Transportation and ACEC Georgia.

The Cartersville-Bartow County Airport runway safety improvements project brought the runway up to the FAA’s requirements with the use of an innovative new technology, Engineered Material Arresting System (EMAS). Not only was this project delivered within schedule and budget, but it also utilized cutting-edge technology.
