Small Business of the Year Award Criteria

Award Criteria

  • Comply with the US Small Business Administration’s size standards.
  • The applicant must be the owner, partner or major shareholder of the business, and active in its day-to-day operations.
  • The business must be financially stable and operational for a minimum of three years with the exception of the Businesses to Watch which is less than three years.
  • Businesses must be a member of the Cobb Chamber of Commerce at the time the award is presented.​ ​

Judging Process - Small Business of the Year

After reviewing all applications, an evaluation team will choose a top 20 and from that group the top 5 finalists will continue on in the competition.

If your company is selected as a finalist, the main point of contact on the application will be contacted to schedule your on-site visit for the judges to see your place of work and get to know you, your company and your team culture better. Finalist site-visits will take place during the week of May 2 at the finalist company location.*Site visit are mandatory. Exact dates and scheduling will be finalized once finalists are announced. We kindly ask that upon applying for an award, you ensure that your schedule allows availability during the timeframes listed.*

Judging Process - Business to Watch & Next Level of Excellence

After reviewing all applications, an evaluation team will choose the top 3 applicants and from that group the overall winner will be selected. The winners will be announced at the Small Business of the Year Breakfast on Monday, May 13, 2024 at the Coca-Cola Roxy.
