Over 100 quilts will be on display in 11 locations throughout Cobb County
East Cobb Quilters’ Guild has partnered with Cobb County Public Library (CCPL) and Cultural Affairs Division of Cobb PARKS’ arts centers to create a quilt tour that will be fun for the whole family. Staggered between the beginning of April and early June, a variety of quilts will be available for viewing at seven libraries, four arts centers and the Cobb County Civic Center. Complete details are located at https://georgiacelebratesquilts.ecqg.com/quilt-tour/ .
The Mable House Arts Center will feature “Picture This,” an exhibit of pictorial quilts, both realistic and abstract. Sewell Mill Gallery will exhibit the “Cabin Fever” challenge quilts which were created in a competition among guild members. The Art Place will display “Quilted Jewels”, a series of jewel toned quilts made by members.
What began as a way to preview the variety of quilts exhibited at the Georgia Celebrates Quilts® show on June 9th– 11th has grown into a fun and impressive display of the East Cobb Quilters’ Guild members talents and passion for quilting. East Cobb Quilters’ Guild president Linda Bailey commented “In 2019 we exhibited quilts at five libraries and the Sewell Mill Gallery, and the response was so positive that this year we have added two new libraries and three arts centers. We have created a tour with a map, and encourage folks who appreciate fiber art to print the map, take part or all of the tour, and make plans to attend the June show.”
