Life University to Host USA Rugby Men’s D1A National Semi-Final Match to be Televised on CBS Sports Network

LifeUniversity_Brandmark[4]For the second year in a row, Life University (LIFE) has been selected as one of two host sites for the USA Rugby Men’s D1A National Semi-Finals. The National Semi-Final match will take place at Lupo Family Field, on the campus of Life University, on Saturday, April 28, 2018. The kickoff is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Eastern Time and will be broadcast live on CBS Sports Network. The winner will advance to the D1A National Championship in Moraga, California, hosted by St. Mary’s College, on May 5, 2018.

“We are honored to have been considered and ultimately selected to host one of two USA Rugby D1A semi-finals in 2018,” says Head Men’s Rugby Coach Colton Cariaga. “First and foremost, it is a testament to the support from our University administration, alumni and friends who have provided us with world class facilities. Without their leadership, continued investment and belief in us, this would not be possible. Secondly, we are grateful for the work the D1A leadership team, led by commissioner Kevin Battle, has done to ensure collegiate rugby is on air in as many homes as possible and as often as possible. Great strides continue to be made on that end. The competition among D1A member institutions and the commitment to the overall growth of the game continues to build, and we look forward to putting on an excellent event this spring.”

Last season, LIFE went undefeated in the regular season. In the semi-final at Lupo Family Field, the Running Eagles dispatched Brigham Young University 36-26 and punched their ticket to the D1A National Championship, where they came up short against St. Mary’s College by a 30-24 final score.

Tickets will go on sale online at a later date and will also be available at the gate on match day. For up-to-date information on the event, please visit LIFERunningEagles.com.
