I am so excited about joining the Cobb Chamber & building relationships. Looking forward to teaming up with individuals and businesses to support them in any way I can.
As I celebrate my 28th business Anniversary as an independent Mary Kay Sales Director, please allow me the opportunity to share a glimpse of my Pink Journey.
Least likely Candidate for the MK business: Going down memory lane, I was the least likely candidate to be in this arena as a busy young single mother and sole provider of an elementary school age child. I was working full time and juggling it all. I did not know a lot of people and I didn’t use any skin care products or makeup . All of that changed when I attended a Mary Kay session and fell in love with the skin care products. Even more than the products, I fell in love with the incredible woman who started it all, Mary Kay Ash…the woman herself. Mary Kay’s mission is to enrich women’s lives, give wings to their dreams to inspire them to live their lives according to two simple philosophies:
- The Golden Rule: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you” is a tried and true principle that serves as the foundation upon which our company was built.
- Priorities in the Right Order: Our company emphasizes on the importance of living a life with our priorities in this order of faith first, family second and career third. She believed in this order, everything works and out of this order nothing does.
That was the mode of operation that I was yearning for and missing in my life. My life was work, work, and more work. coming home drained and tired with little energy left to give to the most important person in my life, my little girl. Also, I was also drawn to the caliber of the Mary Kay women. Women from all different backgrounds and walks of life who use their pink platform to give back to their communities…they give their time, talents & treasures to empower and uplift women in the community which respectfully has ripple effect on the lives of their families.
That said, as you can imagine security is important to me as a single mother & sole provider; for sure I was fearful of taking a big risk. With 2 degrees in business and accounting, I spent my early career focused on climbing the corporate ladder. Though after attending a Mary Kay success event, there was a tug at my heart to join the pink club. Despite of my fears, shyness, not knowing anyone, and lack of time and lack of knowledge of the products or running a business, I took a leap of faith and joined Mary Kay, while keeping my quote and quote ‘secure corporate job’. My plan was simple…to start my Mary Kay business as a side hustle and then quit within a year. Pretty profound success plan you may say!
Despite my busy schedule, I was able to fit Mary Kay in the nooks and crannies of my life and had so much fun doing it. My self-confidence began to grow and my passion for the company took off after my first Mary Kay Seminar. And then, almost a year later, the firm I worked for with the ‘secure job’, due to bad financial decisions, decided to close its doors for good. Being the only single mom working there, they were delighted to inform me that all my executive accounts offered to hire me. I didn’t have to worry about finding a new job, I just had to choose which client to go work for! Though, this security-minded young lady had a different plan. “What if I pursued this Mary Kay side hustle full time?” I stepped out in faith and decided I am going to do it and if it doesn’t work out, I can always go back and work for someone else.
Freedom & Flexibility: 27 years later, I can say joining Mary Kay Cosmetics was one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life. It allowed me to be present at home with my daughter, with the total freedom and flexibility to be fully engaged in her life and school activities not sacrificing what and who is important to get what I need. I was able to enroll her in private school, send her to college with zero student loans, and pay with my earnings for her beautiful wedding.
The Perks: You may have heard of the Mary kay perks of free cars, diamonds & trips…and YES they are all true and simply amazing. What a privilege to be doing what I truly enjoy serving my customers & leading my team of MK consultants and be awarded to drive FREE cars since 1998.
I’ve just picked up my 15th free MK car! The perks are plenty…not to overlook the personal growth; though my greatest and favorite perk is the relationship I have with my daughter, without the regret of not being present. And I would be remiss if I don’t mention how my life has been so blessed by the amazing relationships I have developed with my customers and my MK Ambassadors, who are now friends for life. None of whom I would have ever known if I didn’t take the first step to begin a journey I am beyond grateful for.
The Best is yet to come. Here’s to the next 28 years of PINK Bliss. 🎉
