The Georgia Office of EMS and Trauma Region 3 Emergency Medical Services Council presented Metro Atlanta Ambulance Service with the Region 3 EMS Service of the Year Award. MetroAtlanta Ambulance Service was recognized and presented the award May 23, 2018 at the Region 3 EMS banquet in Atlanta.
MetroAtlanta Ambulance CEO Pete Quinones stated, “It is an incredible honor to be recognized and presented this award. Thank you to the Region 3 Council members and the Region 3 award committee for all their efforts to host this great event. I humbly accept this award on behalf of our management staff and more than 500 EMS professionals that deliver on our mission to provide excellence in patient care and customer service every day; and I accept it on behalf of all of our public safety and healthcare partners that we work so closely with each and every day. In addition to EMS Service of the Year, Metro Atlanta Ambulance EMS Academy Paramedic Instructor Richard Wheat received the EMS Instructor of the Year Award. Under Wheat’s instruction, the EMS Academy has graduated more than 50 Paramedic students and has one of the highest graduation and national registry license pass rates of all Paramedic courses in the state.
MetroAtlanta Ambulance Paramedic Paul Birkinbine received the ‘Paramedic of the Year Award’ and Paramedics Craig Salters and his partner John Harris were recognized with the ‘Pediatric Call of the Year Award’ for their lifesaving efforts.

About State Office of EMS & Trauma, Region 3 EMS Council
The Region 3 EMS Council is a government agency responsible for overseeing ambulance and medical first responder operations throughout the greater-metro Atlanta area counties including Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Douglas, Fulton, Gwinnett, Newton and Rockdale. The council serves in an advisory role to the Georgia Department of Human Resources, Division of Public Health, Office of Emergency Medical Services and Trauma. Region 3 consist of 69 ambulance providers and 35 Medial First Responder Services covering a population of approximately 4 million residents over 2,341 square miles.
