MPCS High School Junior Reaches 1000 Points in Women’s Basketball

Mount Paran Christian School junior Jessica Fields reached her goal of 1,000 points in a game against Hoover on January 13, 2024. Currently, Fields is ranked in the top 40 of all female basketball players in Georgia per the Georgia Tipoff Club. To add to her impressive statistics, Fields has executed more than 700 rebounds and 132 blocks in her career and looks to lead the Lady Eagles to a third consecutive State championship.

When asked about receiving praise for her accomplishment, Fields states: “Having my team next to me while being honored made the moment extra special because it would have been impossible without them. I set this goal my freshman year after seeing Kara Dunn, a senior at the time, reach her 2,000-point mark. I hope to receive Region Player of the Year and help my team win our third consecutive State championship this year! I am so beyond grateful for my God-given athletic abilities and the people I have been surrounded by to help me flourish. Every accolade, championship, and award I have received is because of His grace, and my ultimate goal is to give God the glory in everything I accomplish.”

The feat of scoring 1,000 points during high school is no small achievement and certainly doesn’t happen by accident. It comes down to skill, hard work, dedication, teamwork, good health with minimal injuries, and solid coaching. To do it, a player must be a consistent scorer for at least two years or more which takes countless hours of focus and practice. Coach Stephanie Dunn’s accolades of Jessica illustrate her respect and knowledge of all it takes to play and succeed in basketball. “Jessica is a joy to coach as she not only brings skill and God-given talent to the court but she brings a fun and selfless spirit. She has been instrumental in our emergence as one of the top basketball programs in Georgia.”

The presentation for this achievement occurred at Friday night’s game against Drew Charter on January 19, 2024. Coach Dunn continued with “We love her and look forward to much more success with her as a Lady Eagle.”
