North Metro Martial Arts Foundation to Host its 3rd Annual Board Break

The North Metro Martial Arts Foundation, the 501(c)(3) arm of Cobb Chamber of Commerce member, North Metro Martial Arts (NMMA) is hosting our 3rd Annual Board Break Fundraiser on Saturday, November 4th, 2017, beginning at 10 am.  Our goal is to break over 1,500 boards to raise $15,000 to provide scholarships for those youth who could not otherwise afford to participate in our mentoring, after school or regular martial arts programming.  This year we will be giving 20% of funds raised to Lekotek of Georgia to purchase educational toys for children with disabilities. We would like to invite fellow leaders of our community to invest in the lives of Cobb County children and youth in becoming confident, productive, and focused members of our community by choosing to be one of our sponsors today (http://northmetromartialarts.com/fundraising/).

We would also like for you to bring your family out on November 4th to break a board for $2 and to see live martial arts demonstrations.  There are great items up for raffle and in our silent auction- gift cards to local restaurants, custom made corn hole set, cheesecake of your choice, oil changes, $50 NMMA Club Cash, and bird houses from Charmin’ Gardens.  We would like to thank those businesses who have partnered with NMMA: Los Bravos, Smyrna Tire Service, Dough in the Box, and ICP Systems, LLC.

Serving over 125 children in our after school, mentoring and regular martial arts programming, the North Metro Martial Arts Foundation is a 501(c)(3), which provides exceptional martial arts training in a family-focused environment that encourages each student to achieve their own personal victory. Youth not only gain a sense of self-control, discipline and respect; they also develop pro-social, leadership and life skills through the variety of programs that are offered. Being only 1 of 2 nonprofit martial arts studios focused on serving youth with special needs in Georgia, over 40% of our youth have a special need (i.e., sensory processing disorder, autism, cystic fibrosis, cerebral palsy, and serious emotional and behavioral disturbances, etc.) and 35% come from low-income and at-risk environments.  All of the youth served participate in integrated classes and are exposed to opportunities that allow for them to translate the values of martial arts into becoming meaningful members of their communities.

Mr. Scott Tasker, Executive Director, is a certified mentor with the Cobb County School District and has been nominated by Nickajack Elementary School to receive the volunteer of the year award from the City of Smyrna for his work with elementary school kids in NMMA’s mentoring martial arts program.  If you would like more information on how to partner with the North Metro Martial Arts Foundation contact Kathleen Varda at (678)558-4847 or kathleen@ajrconsulting.net.
