Powder Springs Adding Spring ‘Brown Bag Lunch Concert Series’ this April

The midday concerts, free and open to the public, will be held all four Thursdays in April, with the series also returning for its usual autumn run in September.

The City of Powder Springs’ ‘Brown Bag Lunch Concert Series’ will grace Thurman Springs Park five months earlier than usual, with a new April series set ahead of the series’ annual September offerings.

Residents and visitors of all ages are invited to enjoy the free concerts emanating from the downtown park’s Hardy Family Automotive Amphitheater from noon to 1 p.m. each Thursday in April.

Kicking off the series April 4 is Bottoms Up Duo, promising a “fun mix of rock & roll, blues, country and R&B.” April 11’s act Arkose is a multi-instrument duo that will blend hip-hop, jazz, R&B and classic rock for some soothing soulful sounds. Heating up April 18’s lunch break will be Sons-N-Britches, who have everywhere from Georgia kudzu fields to stages shared with international acts. Singer-songwriter Sonya Shell closes out the series April 25, coupling her strong, rich and bluesy vocals and her guitar to get concert-goers toes tapping.

Limited park seating is available, though attendees are encouraged to bring chairs or sitting blankets. Attendees may not erect tents or umbrellas inside the park.

September’s Brown Bag Lunch Series acts will be announced sometime this summer and will continue to be held Thursdays.
