River Street Sweets • Savannah’s Candy Kitchen Opens at The Battery Atlanta

River Street Sweets • Savannah’s Candy Kitchen, a famed Southern candy franchise, welcomes our newest franchisees, Doug Hicks, of Milton, Georgia and Jamie Wright, of East Cobb, to our candy family as we continue to expand our presence in the metro Atlanta area.

“We looked at several potential locations in Atlanta, and it is obvious that none of them compare to The Battery,” said Doug Hicks. The Hicks and Wrights are very familiar with the brand, having visited Savannah and River Street for years. “The product, the location (GA based) and the people on the team were a perfect fit for us,” said Hicks.

A grand opening is planned for Friday, February 7th with a ribbon cutting, giveaways and free samples beginning at 3:00 pm.

“The Battery is an extremely exciting place in Atlanta right now and we are excited about offering a place to satisfy a sweet tooth after a great meal or day at the ballpark,” said Jamie Wright. “Our son Miller’s middle name is Murphy, partially inspired by Dale Murphy, and he is our #3, so the Lord was working in mysterious ways when we settled on that name.”

River Street Sweets • Savannah’s Candy Kitchen will be located at 455 Legends Place at The Battery Atlanta and will feature the same Southern confections that guests have come to know and love since the flagship store opened in 1973 in Savannah: World Famous Pralines®, handmade chocolate Loggerheads and homemade ice cream and gelato, just to name a few.

Friends, associates, fellow members of the Cobb Chamber and the Strickland family will be on hand to help officially welcome River Street Sweets Savannah’s Candy Kitchen to Braves fans and the people of Atlanta at the grand opening. A portion of the proceeds from all Chocolate Loggerhead® sales on opening day will be donated to the Caretta Research Project, a charity partner of River Street Sweets • Savannah’s Candy Kitchen.

“We’ve seen time and again that our Southern confections, family-friendly atmosphere and old-fashioned approach to candy making appeals to people nationwide,” said Jennifer Strickland, co-founder and co-CEO. “We’re confident the people that visit The Battery will fall in love with our historic brand and we’re excited that Jamie and Doug are the ones to bring it to the area.”
