Saint Leo University was named as providing one of the best online programs in the United States, according to the 2018 U.S. News & World Report’s Best Online Programs edition, which was released today.
Specifically, Saint Leo was ranked high in the Best Online Programs for bachelor’s degrees (tied for 88th) and was named to the Best Online Bachelor’s Programs for Veterans list (51st).
U.S. News assessed schools based on four general categories—student engagement; student services and technology; faculty credentials and training; and peer reputation. U.S. News chose categories that weigh how online programs are being delivered and their effectiveness at awarding affordable degrees in a reasonable amount of time. Full rankings can be found at www.usnews.com/online.
Saint Leo began teaching online in 1998, and the university remains at the forefront among institutions providing online education. Students may complete their degrees completely online, study at one of the university’s 35 teaching locations or at University Campus, or complete their degrees by a combination of online and on-ground classes.
“Saint Leo University is very proud to have its online bachelor’s program recognized in the U.S. News & World Report’s Best Online Programs rankings again this year,” said Dr. Melanie Storms, senior vice president of WorldWide Operations. “We remain committed to providing quality, values-based education that offers maximum flexibility, meeting our students at their point of need.”
Online education appeals to nontraditional students, those who may be attending college later in life, and those who are working and want to be promoted or seek a new career.
This latest recognition follows Saint Leo being named in September as one of the best regional universities and best values in higher education in the 2018 U.S. News & World Report’s Best Colleges.
Saint Leo ranked 61st among regional universities in the South and was named as one of the Best Value Regional Universities–South.
Saint Leo prides itself on being selected as a best value school. These are schools that are above average academically and cost considerably less than many other schools when the financial aid that they dispense, in the form of need-based grants and scholarships, is taken into account, according to U.S. News.
