Sundial Plumbing Services was named the 2010 Small Business of the Year by the Cobb Chamber of Commerce and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution at the Chamber’s First Monday Breakfast today.
Founded in 1999 by the father-daughter team of Jack and Mitzi Smith, Marietta-based Sundial Plumbing Services is a full service professional plumbing contractor assisting both residential and commercial customers with plumbing repairs, remodels and new installation projects.
President Mitzi Smith leads the team of 61 full and part-time employees, ensuring that the company’s core values of uncompromising integrity, bulldog determination, unparalleled customer service and deep community involvement are always at the forefront of company activities.
Sundial is committed to providing the highest quality workforce, and all plumbers are state licensed and receive regular training and testing.
Certified by the national training and accreditation program Green Plumbers USA, Sundial is focusing on environmental initiatives and has used green practices in the recent renovation and expansion of its facility, instituted company-wide recycling and purchased high efficiency vehicles.
During the recession Sundial used creative techniques to maintain business and kept its promise to staff not to let anyone go despite the difficulties in the economy and especially in the construction industry.
At Sundial employees are encouraged to take the lead in community involvement. In 2009 alone, the company gave close to 1,000 hours and tens of thousands of dollars in donations and services to a variety of organizations across the metro area.
As the top small business of Cobb County, Sundial Plumbing will compete in the state small business of the year competition.
Sundial Plumbing was chosen out of the Top 25 Small Businesses of the Year who were nominated earlier this year and selected after a review by an independent panel of judges. Candidates were evaluated based on criteria published by the U.S. Small Business Administration.
The Cobb Chamber also honored the Top 25 Small Businesses of 2010 at the Breakfast.
