There’s Still Time to Be Counted in the Census!

The US Census Bureau remains in the process of conducting the 2020 Census.  Taken every ten years, the Census is the process of counting every individual living in the US.  The results of Census population counts determine the allocation of more than $675 billion in federal funding annually for the next ten years.  Additionally, Census results determine the number of US House of Representatives seats for each state.

Census field operations were suspended in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic and resumed in June.  This resulted in the extension of the response period to October 31, 2020; however, the Census Bureau recently shortened the extension to September 30, 2020. Response rates in Cobb County have been trending slightly above the state and national averages; yet, for every uncounted individual, more than $5,000 is left on the table. Now is the time to reach out to all our fellow community members to make sure that everyone is counted!

US Census Bureau staff is currently visiting households who have yet to respond; however, there is still time to self-respond online or via phone to avoid a visit. Visit https://my2020census.gov/ or call toll-free (844) 330-2020.
