Cobb Collaborative and the Cobb County Public Library are proud to announce a partnership to expand the Collaborative’s Family Literacy Kit initiative at the Sweetwater Branch Library in Austell for the upcoming year, made possible through a generous sponsorship from VyStar Credit Union.
Through VyStar Credit Union’s support, the partnership will expand distribution to 35 kits each month. This initiative is designed to create positive early childhood experiences between children and caregivers, encourage families to read together more often, and help build personal home libraries across the community.
“Building strong home libraries and supporting early childhood literacy takes a community effort,” said Irene Barton, Executive Director of the Cobb Collaborative. “We are thrilled to continue our partnership with the Cobb County Public Library and deeply grateful to VyStar Credit Union. Their sponsorship allows us to put high-quality books and learning tools directly into the hands of local families every single month.”
The monthly kits include carefully selected books paired with interactive, hands-on learning activities. By providing these resources to local families free of charge, the initiative strengthens caregiver-child bonding, develops foundational reading skills, and ensures children in Austell have access to books in their own homes.
